I truly believe there is not a VPN provider out there. If I were you, I'd review in detail all the negative feedback including comments with each provider and reviewer. Restoreprivacy is arguably the best of the worst bunch. You're right, nobody can be trusted online when it comes to VPN reviews and comments.

Netflix is very aggressive in blocking VPN addresses, especially from the most common VPN providers such as NordVPN.
